Inter Milan have agreed a £30m deal with Liverpool to sign Curtis Jones, moving the midfielder closer to a transfer that would end his 16-year association with the club. Jones joined Liverpool at the age of nine and has been given permission to travel to Italy for a medical before the move can be completed.

The 25-year-old’s departure would bring a lengthy Liverpool chapter to a close. His route from the club’s youth system to the senior side made him a familiar presence in the squad, even as his role varied between seasons and within matches.
A Liverpool career spanning 228 appearances
Jones made his senior Liverpool debut in the 2018-19 season. He went on to make 228 appearances for the first team and score 22 goals, figures that underline the scale of his contribution after first arriving in the academy as a child.
During that period, Jones won two Premier League titles, two Carabao Cups, the Club World Cup and the FA Cup. He was also part of the Liverpool side that finished as Champions League runner-up in 2022.
His prospective move to Inter would make him the third England international to join the Italian club during this transfer window, following John Stones and Djed Spence. Sky Sports’ account of the agreement also confirms the £30m valuation and Jones’ authorization to travel for his medical.
Jones made 49 appearances in all competitions last season, including 18 Premier League starts. His ability to operate in midfield and attacking positions, as well as at right back, gave Liverpool a flexible squad option, although the supplied reporting does not determine how his minutes will be redistributed if the transfer is completed.
Liverpool’s midfield picture after the agreement
The expected midfield setup provides the clearest indication of the players Liverpool can call upon after Jones’ proposed exit.
